Just a smile
I have to pick up one of the girls from a boot camp school everyday. Not an easy school physically but in academics fairly easy as they are in contained classrooms with limited student teacher ratios. When I pull up she had to raise her hand tell the master seargent "Rides Here" then has to run to the car. Today I picked her up and just as I saw her I smiled at her like I was happy to see her (if I was or not), and it was amazing the smile that came on her face and spread across her face. I have to remember that more often.

Violence in Teen Age Girls
I have a 15 yr old in my home who somehow in her short life has decided to get something accomplished you need to use violence. She was brought to live with me last year for fighting on the school bus, had they had cameras on the bus we could have been on Fox News.
She says some girl called her mother (deceased) a crack ho. This girl climbed over 3 seats and proceeded to beat the stuff out of the girl and sent her to the hospital. The family she was staying with kicked her out and she was kicked off the bus, moved her here and to another school. She stayed in school from Nov till Feb and one day got into four fights, I never could find a single reason for the fights and was kicked out of school to CAPS. She also ran one family that was renting an apt in our neighborhood out because she would not leave her daughter alone, to the point of going to their apt and trying to kick the door down.

Unconditional Love
Maybe being a foster parent is not much different than being a parent of your own children, but I dont think so. The girls come from such a variety of backgrounds and a lot of times a life of rejection.
One girl was told at the age of 13 she was gay simply because she liked one of her sisters friends and has lived that out since then, believing she is gay. She was rejected by her grandparents and her mother. Found her real father last year and now they are not following through on promises the made to her.
The 13 yr old has told me that because she is 13 and a teenager she is suppose to be able to play with her friends and have fun. Which I do agree with I just want to know where she is playing and who she is playing with. It has taken a almost a yr but I think she finally understands I am not doing it to try and punish her but because I care about her. Lastly the other one is back at LAPS which mean she is brought back and forth to school each day at least I know she will pass this school year they rarely fail anyone at LAPS.
